Jerez - Day 2

Qualifying was even tighter than we thought it would be. I ended up just three tenths off the pole and I start ninth on the grid! That's closer than any championship I have ever raced in. Stoner is third in MotoGP and he is three tenths off Pedrosa. The day was intense with a lot of extra things I am not used to like a lot of press interviews and sponsor events. It's cool but it brakes up your race rutine.I don't know how many of the guys that are up front will be able to keep up a good pace but we know we will be pretty good all race. I ran 27 laps with the race tire and didn't feel too bad at the end, it was sliding around a little but wasw still able to do good lap times. Tomorrow we just need to get a good start and we will have a good race. K-

Jerez - Day 1

Well, here we are sitting in our new team hospitality after the first free practice here in Jerez. Things have gone pretty good today and I had a good feel with the bike. It was amazing to be out there on the track today with so many people in the stands... and it's only Friday!

Qatar was my first race in the World Championships but it felt starge because there were no trucks, no hospitality tents, and no fans. Here it's a different story, the paddock is completely full of vehicles, and people. And the stands are about half full with people turning up to see the first free practice.

At first it all got to me a bit and during the first few laps I was kind of nervous and tight on the bike but as the session went on I felt more comfortable. I have a pretty good feel with the bike and a good pace. Taday we ended up third but I know qualifying will be tough and very tight tomorrow.

In the afternoon I cruised around the paddock checking out the other rider's motorhomes with my wife. We still haven't made up our mind on one but after today we are going to get a big American style RV for sure.

Now getting ready for dinner with team and sponsors.

Jerez - "Un sueño hecho realidad"

Desde que llegamos al circuito de Jerez me di cuenta de verdad que estaba en el mundial. Qatar fue una experiencia extraña porque estábamos en el mundial pero no habia ni camiones, ni catterings, ni publico! Para que os hagáis una idea de lo que son las pruebas overseas del mundial pensar que Rossi mismo se cambiaba en una caseta prafabricada (como las de las obras) igual que la nuestra. No se me parecio todo extraño y algo frio pero en Jerez el jueves ya se sentia la emocion de MotoGP. He estado muchas veces en este paddock muchas veces en el CEV y antes cuando corria la Formula de Campeones pero nunca lo habia visto así de lleno y de bonito! Ahora con los nuevos equipos de Moto2 el circo del mundial esta más lleno y colorido que nunca. Mi equipo tiene uno de los montajes más grandes del mundial y cuando lo vi me quede de piedra. Es una estructura enorme de dos plantas con un gran Jack & Jones de 8 metros ipreso al lado de una foto mia del mismo tamaño. Yo parecia el tipico niño de pueblo de película americana que va a Nueva York por primera vez y se queda boquiabierto viendo los rascacielos.
Al día siguiente cuando sali al primer entreno libre por primera vez tambien me impresionó el público aunque a la segunda tanda consegui centrarme en la pista y empezar a trabajar para poner la moto a punto. Me encontre raro, no solo por el público y las camarás, sino tambien porque la última vez que habia cogido la moto habia sido en Qatar y el trazado de Jerez me parecia pequeñisimo. Pero la moto estaba bastante bien y me daba buen feeling por lo que en cuanto me acostumbre un poco al circuito rodé bastante rápido y acabamos el primer dia terceros. En los cronos se nos complico un poco ya que a pesar de solo quedarme a tres decimas de la pole quede noveno... increible! Esta categoria esta más apretada de lo que me imaginaba possible. En MotoGP Stoner hizo tercero a tres decimas de Pedrosa, más normal, pero noveno... me costaba asimilarlo y me fui a dormir contento porque teniamos buen ritmo pero un poco cabreado de no haber conseguido salir en la primera fila. De la carrera, que os voy a contar que no hayais visto? Ha sido increible y muy divertida. Liderar mi segunda carrera en el mundial y pelearme con pilotos de la talla de Toni Elias ha sido un sueño hecho realidad. Al final nos ha faltado un poco ya que habia castigado mucho los neumaticos durante la primera mitad de la carrera pero nos vamos de Jerez ilusionadisimos y con ganas de trabajar duro para volver ha estar delante. Quiero acabar dando las gracias a todas las personas que me han ayudado a llegar hasta aqui, nos vemos en Le Mans. K-
